Level 2 Coach/Endurance Coach
I was a multi-sport athlete in high school – running cross country, swimming, and pole vaulting in track. I’ve competed in several endurance events including triathlons and marathons using CrossFit based training techniques.
My first CrossFit WOD was January 5th, 2008. I did CrossFit from my basement/garage gym from 2008 until 2015 following Crossfit.com and CrossFit Endurance to enhance my distance running and fitness levels. I’m a firm believer in quality over quantity when it comes to building an increased aerobic capacity. In spring 2015, I joined the Haymaker team as running/endurance coach. I’m not the strongest lifter but I can pretend enough most days. As our Oly coaches can tell you, I should attend more of their sessions. I’d love to be more efficient on the Olympic lifts.
My wife Melonie is, without a doubt, the strongest person I know. She and I have been together since high school and married since college. We have two children, Jackson and Eden, who frequent the gym with us and enjoy making their own workouts. You will see our kids at the box as much as we are. Outside of the gym, you’ll probably find me running, cycling, swimming, or playing some disc golf. When Mel and I got married, I was at least 40 lbs heavier than I am now. I had spent most of college eating way too much pizza and enjoying too many other indulgences. When I found CrossFit in 2008 I found a path to a healthier life. I still fall off the rails a bit but CrossFit has changed my life.
The most rewarding thing about coaching is watching an athlete get a PR, whether under my coaching or just during a class! There’s nobody who can’t do CrossFit. You’re ready! Come join us!
